ECONOMIC EMPOWEREMENT OF THE SHERPA COMMUNITY:
Sherpa and porters make about 90% less than their western less-experienced counterparts. In the Khumbu area, the gap between rich and poor is growing. Together we can change this.
WE MUST PROTECT THE MOUNTAIN:
A five-years study by the International Center for Integrated Mountain Development found that the galciers in Hindu Kush and the Himalayas are melting rapidly and threatened to shrink to nearly a third of their size if CO2 emissions are not controlled.
With the rising poularity and ease of accessibility of Everest, what goes up, does not necessarily come down. Much of it gets left behind. 30 tons of trash remain on Everest, we must protect the mountain!
